I have painted two landscapes for this years' show and have used Google street view and satellite images for their compositions. I often like to use this method when coming up with ideas for what to paint. The perspective of the landscapes from a road side view are familiar and easy to manipulate when sketching out ideas.

I have always liked the view when coming into Haverfordwest from Johnston. You can see the whole town and the Preselis in the background, life is bustling away and people are going about with their daily tasks.

My second painting is a view of the Cleddau with St Ann's Head in the bottom, the river winding up from Angle, to Milford Haven and Pembroke Dock, with the refineries, fields, farms, and villages scattered about. 'New Beginnings' made me think of all the activity in this part of the county. How marine life in the river and the sea come and go, how the ferries go back and forth, and how the tankers bring into the county so much activity and livelihood.
