I’ve used two oval, yellow tub top rims two form the frames for the pictures. Both pictures are set in Haverfordwest and share colours and figures to show that commonality. I wanted to convey a sense of dissatisfaction with now and that in the future that change ( and for the better ) was imminent . More importantly I wanted to say that that change would grow out of what we do now. Hence the title of the second picture “ Act Now: The Future Grows From Today “. We and our actions are the main resources for change for the better. The pictures embody action to benefit the environment as I’ve collected the materials for them from various beaches where they would otherwise be environmental pollutants.

  •  Being the son of parents who were definitely of the “ waste not want not “ generation, I was brought up with an abhorrence of waste . Seeing piles of man made materials on beaches always made me wonder what use could be made of these materials which are otherwise environmental pollutants. I decided to start using these materials for art and thus to draw attention to them and their provenance. Some years ago I realised what I was doing was POP art and like my artistic forebears I’m using the detritus of modern life to comment on the circumstances of modern life.

  • Artwork is painted onto 9mm thick plywood with a 2inch black frame, suitable for indoor display & will last for around 2 year’s outside, much longer if in a sheltered position, the artwork is varnished & robust.
