Cosmic emergence is based on the idea of the emergence of life in the cosmos, from the big bang to the present day. The piece symbolises the emergence of new life as we see it through the seasons, following the colours that emerge from the winter snowdrops, through to the yellow daffodils followed by the bluebells and the green foliage that accompanies summer. The piece is made on plywood with nails placed to hold the cotton threads which can be viewed in 2 or 3 D which provide different textures and mixes of colour.

  • Tess Ellis, 21, is a Pembrokeshire based artist who specialises in the production of string art pieces. The intricate designs that she makes with cotton and nails are inspired by sacred geometry and modular arithmetic which are then combined from colour groups inspired by the natural world in Pembrokeshire. By placing the nails in patterns which follow strict mathematical formulae, Tess can create textured and intricate pieces which reflect the world around her whilst drawing the eye in to find individual patterns within.

  • Artwork is created on 18mm thick plywood with a 2inch black frame & perspex, suitable for indoor display & will last for around 2 year’s outside, much longer if in a sheltered position, the artwork is protected & robust.
